Stay by the Tree

Something I noticed when I recently re-read 1 Nephi 11, was that when Nephi asks the Angel to know the meaning of he tree, the Angel shows him the birth of Christ, then says, "what does the tree mean?" Nephi says, "The love of God" to me, the Angel was saying, the tree represents Jesus Christ and the fruit is the Atonement; and I saw myself as Lehi, beckoning others to partake of the Atonement (fruit) of Jesus Christ (the tree of Life) because a when I thought about it, I thought, as it says in 1 John 4:9, the Love of God is Him sending Christ for us, so I take that scripture, as the tree is the Savior, he provided the Atonement which is the fruit, and it is, as we read in 1 Nephi 15:36 regarding the fruit, "...tree of life, whose fruit is most precious and most desirable above all other fruits; yea, and it is the greatest of all the gifts of God." What is the greatest gift of God? His son and more specifically, the Atonement of his son. So with that in mind, that stay by the tree, in my mind (this isn't doctrine of course just something I thought was powerful and spiritual to me) we it in my mind, Stay By The 'tree' becomes Stay By The Savior; he is the one who permits us to enter into Gods presence. I think more than anything this far on my mission, I've come to know Christ so much more, and that's what I think is one of the most important things to gain on a mission, is a testimony of the Savior and a desire to never leave His side, or as the talk said, "Stay by the Tree (or Savior)." Anyways...

This week was really good!

Tuesday we had interviews with President and Sister Vest and district
meeting, the interview went really well and so did the district
meeting. After the meeting we had a lesson with an investigator which
went good - we talked about the Atonement. Following the lesson we tried a
less active and then knocked on a few doors and ended up listening to
a guy lecture us for an hour and a half, he just talked about
his own beliefs and we couldn't even get a word in for an hour and a
half haha but we ended up giving him a Book of Mormon which was great.
After that we had to go to dinner. Then visited with a less active
family.

Wednesday we were playing basketball in the morning and i got hit in
the eye so my eye was red all week long. After basketball we tried a lot of
potentials and had a lesson with a less active member which went well.
After the lesson we went to visit a family in a small town near
Sedalia called Green Ridge; we've visited the family before, and we
knocked on their door, they opened, and they closed haha. Then we
tried knocking on a few doors. After that we went to dinner and after
dinner we went and tried a few less active members and knocked on some
doors and found a nice guy names Rodger, and taught him lesson 1.

Thursday, in the morning, we helped our ward mission leader move, he
just moved within the ward, that took most of the morning. Then we
visited with Victor and Jessica  since they were at the M's. After
that we went and visited with a less active member. Then we had dinner
at a member's house that's not even a house, it's a freaking castle;
it's built the exact same as a castle, it's like 3 houses put
together. We did the same thing as the night before trying less
actives then knocking on doors and we found another investigator.

Friday we had lunch with a member. Then we tried less actives for a
while and ended up tracting and again found ANOTHER investigator, but
this time they were Hispanics. Then we had dinner with the ward
mission leader in his new place but mid dinner we got called to give a
blessing so we had to run. After that we went and visited with a
Victor and Jessica at their place.

Saturday, we had correlation, then we went to the Y's and had lunch
with them. After that we went to Dresdon and tracted out almost the
entire town to find a member who had moved there, we didn't find him.
After that we went to the M's for dinner. Then we got called to
give another blessing to an elderly lady who had fallen.

Sunday, we had ward council. Then we translated sacrament meeting into
Spanish which was fun and difficult, then we learned about the
creation in Sunday school. Priesthood was about our priesthood
responsibility. After church we went and gave a blessing then we found
the member in Dresdon and visited with him. After that we tried one of
the new investigators and he reschedule the meeting for later this
week. Then we went to dinner. After dinner we had a lesson with the
Hispanic less active family, only the dad was there and we talked with
him and taught the Restoration.

Well, this week was good. We found a lot of people which is awesome
because we've struggled with that for a while. Hope everyone is doing
good! Take care!
