This week was alright, most people were busy but we were able to visit
with less active members a decent amount.
Tuesday, we didn't have much going but our Bishop called and we were
asked to go give a member a blessing. She is an elderly lady who is
fairly sick and she thought she had pneumonia so we went and gave her
a blessing before she went to the hospital. Then we felt impressed to
go visit a specific family in the ward so we went and visited with
them and it turns out that their son needed a blessing; the mother is
divorced from the dad and so it is just the mom, two daughters, and
son. Well, after that we went and gave a little gift to the ward
mission leader and his wife, we got him a tie and her flowers. Then we
had dinner with the Bishop and two of his sis at Applebee's. After
dinner we gave him a tie and gave him flowers for his wife. That's
something we were counseled to do by a general authority that came a
while back, to buy flowers and a tie for the ward mission leader and
Bishop and their wives.
Wednesday, we had district meeting and the Assistants and Zone Leaders
showed up, the assistants came un denounced so that was a little
stressful haha but the meeting went well. Afterward we went and helped
someone take down Christmas lights. Then we helped a man do some home
teaching, we went with him and visited a less active man in the ward.
After that he brought us back but we helped him finish his home
teaching later on. Following the first home teaching session we went
and visited with V and J before dinner. After dinner we
finished home teaching with the same man from earlier.
Thursday, we went out to Green Ridge, which is a little town in our
area. We tried to visit some people but didn't have a lot of luck so
we visited a member that lived there. After the member we visited with
a les active woman and then headed off to dinner.
Friday, we went and had lunch with the Ys. After lunch we
attempted to visit with a less active man who we've visited with
before but this time he said that by visiting him we were just wasting
our time. So we knocked on some doors in the mean time. We tried
visiting some less active members after that and ended up talking to a
nice Hispanic lady who said we could come back too! Well after that we
visited with another less active who was making some food so he fed us
some tacos right before we went to dinner. Then after dinner the
Ms invited us over to have som tomales that Mary made, and after
that the ward mission leader had some BBQ ribs that he made for us. 4
meals in one night... Happy New Years haha
Saturday, we had to the fill the font for the baptism of the ward
mission leaders daughter. He asked me to witness for it so I did along
with his dad. Then after the baptism we went to a lunch for the entire
elders quorum for our ward. We ate at a Mexican restaurant and then
had some games, it was a super cool bonding event. After the party we
tried some people and then visited with V and J. Following
that we tried some more people before grabbing dinner on the way home,
the members signed up to feed us just gave us some money.
Sunday, fast Sunday was good, it was probably the best testimony
meeting I've ever been to; everyone talked about the Savior and bore
personal testimony of Him, that's what it's all about so it's what
should be the center of our meetings, and especially our testimony
meetings. Well, I was in the Spanish Sunday school and we talked about
our Heavenly Father from the gospel principles manual, the first
chapter. Priesthood was about home teaching done the proper way, not
just a one time visit but being there throughout the month. Then a
family had us over for lunch so fasting was cut pretty short this week
haha. Well after fasting we visited a few people. We had an awesome
lesson with a less active member who we've made attempts to reactivate
since I arrived in Sedalia. It was the best visit I've been in with
him and he said he's felt it was about time for him to come back!! It
was awesome!! After that meeting we had a meeting with the Ms, it
was a pretty good lesson with them, just discussed why church
attending is so important and discussed some other things too. Then we
had a late dinner at the Youngs.
Well, this week was pretty good. I'm pumped for the New Year and a
chance to have this year to set some goals and improve. I am so glad
to be on the Lords errand, however difficult and trying it may be. I
know Christ lives and loves us all, I know we have a God who loves us.
I know Christ is my Savior and he's your Savior too. Love you all,
take care!
Elder Hinrichsen
