The Visitor's Center
Feb 2, 2016
Tuesday, STAKE REPORTS! This time it was the big report since it was
the first Tuesday of the month so we had to get a lot of info and then
President Vest was there to add to the stresses. So, we went to the
church 30 minutes before the meeting and... the copier was still
broken... From two weeks prior, crazy! So we ended up having to run
back to the apartment and make 11 more copies of the 8 page packet,
tender mercy that we didn't run out of ink. Haha Well, the meeting
with President Vest and the Stake President, President Thomas. We just
reported on the stakes missionary work.

Wednesday, MLC was good. There was a lot more talk of the Savior than
I thought there would be. Trainings were on: faith in Christ, the role
of the Holy Ghost, revelation through prayer and revelation thought
church attendance. After MLC we went to the Cooks for dinner. Then
later on we had a lesson with Arthur about the priesthood with Brad
Frame.

Thursday, we had planned to go with A to the VC in Independence
at 11 but his girlfriend had some health problems and he had to run to
the hospital so we ended up eating lunch at Courthouse Exchange in
Independence at 12 then going to the VC. It was a great tour, and
A said he wants to come back other times by himself. Well, after
that we had a text from the Far West Zone Leaders who gave us a
referral for someone who lived in our apartment complex saying he was
super solid, so we went and contacted him and we put him on date for
27 of February. So that was sweet! After that we ran to dinner at the
H's house and then we went to the church to report lessons and
plan out the next day before going home to plan trainings for Zone
training tomorrow.

Friday, Zone training went well! I trained on the Role of the Holy
Ghost in Conversion, but I focused on how we can assist the spirit on
the power of conversion. After the meeting we had zone lunch. After
zone lunch we had to change and go to an appointment with a new
investigator, M. S. We discussed baptism and he agreed to
shoot for mid March for baptism but has a lot to overcome. Then we had
dinner with a sweet part-member family. After dinner we had a lesson
with S. D., the investigator we received from the Far
West zone, it went very well! Then we had a lesson with Arthur and his
buddy. So, A's friend moved here from Texas. While
A was down in Independence waiting for him, he went early and
spent 3 hours by himself at the visitors center... BY HIMSELF, then,
after he picked his friend up, he took his friend to the visitors center for 2
and a half more hours, he spent 5.5 hours there!! Insane!! Well, we
finished with a lesson with the two of them that went really well.

Saturday, we did studs then had a lesson with a man who's coming
back to the church that we're teaching. The lesson went very well.
Then we had lunch and went and did service at a thrift store. After
service we had a lesson with A's friend where we talked
about the principles of the gospel; faith, repentance, baptism, gift
of the Holy Ghost, enduring to the end. That lesson was good but was
interrupted when A's older brother came in and started asking
questions. After that lesson we went to dinner with a super sweet
family. After dinner we went and dropped of a large print triple
combination to S and talked to him for a little before going
back to A's and teaching him a sweet lesson; but right in the
middle of the lesson,
Feb 7, 2016- 13 Months!!
Sunday, church was good. It was a solid testimony meeting, totally
focused on the Savior which is key. We were super blessed to have
three investigators show up to sacrament: A, S, and M
which was amazing! Sunday school was about Fasting, it was a really
good lesson with a lot of testimony so that was great. Third hour was
some training about the new curriculum, "Come, Follow Me" it was
combined with youth and adults. The topic was teaching more with the
spirit instead of wrote presentation; it's funny because the entire
time I just kept thinking, "MAN!!! This is EXACTLY like the
missionaries way of teaching!!" I'm convinced they took the ideas from
Preach My Gospel. After church we visited with the Bennetts, they are
a super cool family we are helping get active and hopefully to the
temple. Then we visited with a family, the Guthrie's, a less-active
family we are working with. We had dinner and then ran to our ward
mission leader, Brother A's house; he is like the perfect ward
mission leader. He had S, our investigator, over for dinner and
a discussion; he did the same for A and was planning on having
A and his friend over Sunday but A's friend wasn't feeling well, he had a
tooth infection that made his entire face swell up, so he wasn't
feeling well; but, the Bishop is an oral surgeon so he will be fixing
it up today, Monday. Well, after that we visited with A,his friend and their friend A.B. She works at the thrift store we do
service at. The Elders have been trying to set an appointment with her
for a while and A is her friend so it worked out perfectly! So we
taught them, mainly A though, about how the church is set up for
our learning, and about enduring to the end.
This week was amazing! We were able to find three new people to teach,
and have two people with solid baptismal dates and one who so
tentative. We had a few people show up to sacrament and it was all in
the week where for like two days we had super long meetings that took
up most of the day; the Lord is miraculous for sure! I hope everyone
is doing well! Have a great week!
Much love,
Elder Hinrichsen
