Baptism

2/22/16
Monday, p-day's it up with some basketball. After that we had
dinner, then a lesson with a family we are working with. It went super
well.

2/23/16
Tuesday, we did stake reports and ended earlier than we thought we
would, which allowed us to have a lesson with A. It was a good
visit where we cleared us some things he wasn't sure about. After that
lesson, we had dinner with the ward mission leader, followed by the
stake report meeting, and lastly, we had a lesson with S.
D., who should be baptized on Saturday.

2/24/16
We had district meeting in St. Joseph and to our surprise, President
Sister Vest came, there's a little pressure for ya haha! And to add to
it, Elder Hunt and and I gave a training on ways for finding people to
teach haha well, the training went well, luckily! After the meeting,
the district had lunch together, it's a thing here to have lunch as a
district after district meeting. Well, after lunch we rushed back to
Platte City, to set up for a baptismal interview for Stephen
Duzenberry. We got that set up, and Elders Sutton, Wood, and Conley
came down so Elder Sutton, the district leader, could do the
interview. Well, we had a Spanish family to contact, so Elder Conley
and I went and left the other three and Stephen at the church, and
contacted a Spanish family. We taught the restoration on the doorstep,
it was an alright lesson, but I definitely realized that the Hispanics
are just being "nice" letting us come back and talk to them haha.
After the lesson, we went back to the church and the interview was
over so the other elders left. We then had dinner with the stake
Patriarch, Patriarch Frame. He was a helicopter pilot in Vietnam, with
some crazy war stories that he shared with us. After dinner we went
with our ward mission leader to teach a lesson to a woman that we find
while on exchanges by just talking to her while she was on her porch.
She seems very interested. The lesson went well, we taught the Plan of
Salvation, but only got a little over half way done before she asked
us a few questions that she had about the church, which is awesome!
Because it shows that she is attentive and interested!

2/25/16
Thursday, so we go and work out with J. B. every morning, but
this time, I left with a stomach ache. I wasn't feeling good so when
we came home I ended up blowing chunks. Well, I thought that was it,
so I had breakfast but then, when we started weekly planning I got a
gnarly headache and ended up sick again. Well, we had an appointment,
and I didn't want to cancel, so we went and while we were there I was
fighting my headache and sickness, bad haha. The day before Elder Hunt
had found some peppermint essential oil in the house, and I had heard
that by rubbing a dot on your temples it can help a headache, well let
me tell you, I was emptying that baby on my temples haha, it helped
for a little but then, I accidentally touched around my eye and oh
my... That is pain. My eye starting watering like you couldn't
believe. So we are sitting in this lesson, I had told Elder Hunt to
teach almost the whole thing, luckily we weren't covering much
information, and I need to throw up and me eye is watering
incessantly... Not my favorite experience. Well, by the grace of God,
because there's no other way, I made it through, shared my testimony,
we ended with a prayer and while the member with us and the
investigator were chatting I snuck out the front door and started
vomiting in the grass of the apartment complex and somehow was able to
throw up at the perfect times, thus letting nobody know it was
happening, not to brag, but it was pretty smooth... Well, as smooth as
throwing up in someone's yard can be... After that we went home, and
laid down for a little bit and we finished our planning. The sisters
called and asked us to give their investigator a blessing, so we went
with the ward mission leader, Brother A, and talked with her,
she's going through some hard time, and gave her a blessing. From
there we rushed to dinner before having a visit with S and then
another visit with A, who had some visitors so we taught them the
restoration.

2/26/16
Friday, we had a visit with S in the morning to hash out the
details of his baptism. After that we went to the church, every
Tuesday and Friday I do a Skype language study with two missionaries
in the zone; one elder, Elder Call, on Tuesday and another, Elder
Conley, on Friday. So I skyped with Elder Conley after which we had
lunch and then did service at the thrift store. After service we went
to the church and set up the room for the baptism Saturday morning.
From there we changed and went to dinner and then to A's house to
talk more with him. If he could get some prayers his way, we'd love
that, he's struggling to overcome a few things right now, so he could
use all the spiritual strength he could get!

2/27/16
Saturday, we had the baptism of S. D.. Everything went
perfect! I had the opportunity of performing the baptism which was a
great experience. S has some physical challenges so we figured
the baptism would be a little harder to do, but it went perfect! Well,
the service went well as well. The high priest group has been super
involved with S which is awesome to see! Well, after the baptism
we had a lesson with a man we are helping to reactivate. After that
lesson we had lunch and then did some service at the thrift store,
they asked us on Friday to come back and help on Saturday. After
service we spent time trying to find new people to teach before
dinner. After dinner we had a visit with A then we visited with
the B family.

2/28/16
Sunday, we had weekly correlation meeting, followed by Ward Council,
followed by choir practice. Church was good, sacrament talks were on
two general conference talks "Come What May and Love It" and one on
Integrity. Sunday school was on work and self reliance, the lesson
turned more toward the principle of work which went really well! In
Elders quorum we talked about President Uchtdorfs talk, "It Works
Wonderfully!", that talk is amazing! Well, after church we tried to
visit a few less-active members but had no success. After that we had
dinner and then we went to visit some people who weren't home, too bad
haha. Luckily we were able to contact a few other people.

This week was good, other than Thursday haha. Things are going good in
Platte City but we have transfers this week, yikes!!! We hope we can
both stay and keep the work moving forward! Hope everyone is doing
well! Have a great week!!
