Seth's Zone
This week was okay. I hit my year mark on Thursday and that was
surreal!! It feels like yesterday I was just in primary singing "I
hope they call me on a mission" now I'm half-way done. Time sure flies
haha
Well, Tuesday, we visited with a few less active members. We were able
to visit with a guy who's been coming back to church that we were
worried about and he was going through a rough time so we were able to
give him a blessing and help him out. It was a good experience. We
visited with a few other less active members as well but didn't have
anything special happen, but still good meetings.
Wednesday, we had two appointments with investigators. The first visit
was with an investigator we've been struggling to meet with. It was an
okay meeting, he expressed that he didn't have a lot of desire to
change his life, but he wants to follow Christ, it reminded me of a
quote from a talk to Young Adults that said, "Often we have the
attitude of: I'll go where you want me to go and I'll do what you want
me to do as long as it's where I want to go and what I want to do" I
guess that's this mans attitude. The second meeting was with an
investigator who wants to be baptized but knows his wife will never
approve of it. We had a good meeting with him though. After that we
tried contacting some other people for the most part of the day. After
dinner we went to mutual to talk to a less active young man who we
have been helping go to mutual for a while now and we talked to him
and played a little basketball with a few of the young men.
Thursday, we had lunch with the Elders from Tipton, we had a little
bit of fun with a "hamburger cook-off" to celebrate my on year mark.
After lunch we tried to contact a few people but not many were home;
it always difficult to find people to teach. Well we went to dinner
with the Filetti family, where I also burned a short to commemorate my
year mark on the mission. After that we were planning on having a
basketball thing for a nonmember kid to bring a bunch of friends to,
but it was cancelled, so we just tried to contact a few more people.
Friday, we had a zone training in Warrensburg in the morning, it went
pretty long, and afterward we went out to eat. After returning to
Sedalia we tried to visit a few people and then we went to dinner with
Victor and Jessica. Victor made some authentic Mexican Fajitas, they
were absolutely amazing! We read some scriptures with them as well and
then Victor felt inspired to ask us to give blessings to his family
because he felt that there had been a lot of contention among them.
Saturday, we were approved to go to the temple next Friday with the
Tipton Elders so we are super pumped! However, it was an EXTREMELY
slow day, I don't think we got into any homes except for visiting one
or two. We had dinner with a sweet family and then played a little
game with them called faux-casualty where you create fake words for
things.
Sunday, we translated sacrament meeting. Sunday School was about
Heavenly Father but got off on a deep tangent about how when we are
Gods we will be able to create worlds and stuff... A little too deep
for the investigators we had there. Priesthood was about Christ being
our only hope, a beautiful message to have. After church we had a
quick lunch and then we used the phone to try contacting some
potential investigators. Then we visited with a few people before
going to dinner. After dinner we went and visited with an
"investigator", he's met with the missionaries for a while but has
some things out of his control that don't permit him to be baptized.
Well this year went too fast! Love you all and hope that you aren't
counting the moments, but making the moments count! Have a great week!
With Love,
Elder Hinrichsen
