Transfers: Goodbye Sedalia

Hello everyone! This week we had transfers and after six months in
Sedalia I have been transferred out! It's sad but I'm excited for the
new opportunity to serve in the Platte City Ward!

On Tuesday, we tried some people but not much luck. We visited with
the Ms and then after dinner we tried to contact some more
people. We got transfer calls and it turns out that I was going to
serve in the Hickory Hills ward in Lenexa in a trio with two elders. I
went home and began packing.

Wednesday, we spent the day going around saying goodbye to people. But
in the morning we had a missionary broadcast from the church mission
department about tips and things to the work. It was a good broadcast,
Elder Neil Anderson gave an amazing talk about testifying of the
Savior at every opportunity. After that we went to lunch with our
district. Then we went around saying bye to people, that's always
fairly difficult. We did that for the remainder of the day, I will
send some pictures later of the people we said bye to. So, at the end
of the day we got a call from President Vest, and because
a missionary was sick, transfers changes, I was now going to serve in
the Platte City area with a different companion; plot twist!! Haha too
bad I had already said bye to people so everyone thought I was going
to Lenexa but now I was going to Platte city, like 45 minutes north
haha. So that was crazy!

Thursday, we had transfers in Independence, I got to see some good
buddies, I always love transfers for that reason. Well, I am now
serving with Elder Hunt from Apple Valley, Utah; near St George, he's
been out for 18 months. We spent most of the meeting people and
setting up appointments.

Friday, we did service at the local thrift store before lunch. Then
visited with a less active member who the Elders have been working
with, J. He's a super cool guy, an ex-marine who served in
Afghanistan for a few tours so he's got some gnarly stories. After
that we tried some potentials and ended up knocking on the door of a
lady who we set up a return appointment for. We had three appointments
fall through during the course of the day so it was a little
frustrating, but such is the missionary life. Dinner was with a sweet
family who are serving a mission teaching the addiction recovery
class. After dinner we went back to the lady's house from earlier
we taught her the restoration and it went pretty well
and she said we could come back so we were excited for that!

Saturday, we did studies then Elder Hunt wanted to talk to the sister
missionaries here and talk about the work and families they were
visiting with and that we could visit. After that I did some language
study and then we had lunch. After lunch we went out and tried
potentials in a small town called Weston but didn't have much success,
we decided to try and visit a less active part member family and we
had a good visit with them. From there house we went to dinner. After
dinner we had to run to the ward mission leader, Brother A's,
house because we visited with him earlier and left our phone there
after visiting with him we went and met with an investigator, Arthur.
Brother A came with us, and taught most of the lesson about
faith, sharing some good stories from his conversion story; he's a
stud!

Sunday, we had a missionary correlation meeting which was really good!
For us he work is a little slow but for the sisters it's just insane
haha, they cover our ward and the YSA ward for our stake and two other
neighboring stakes so they have a TON going on haha. But the Platte
City Ward is an awesome ward and I'm super excited to serve here. For
sacrament we had A show up to church which was awesome, but he
left after sacrament because he had to go to work at 6 and had gotten
back from work at 8 in the morning so he was pretty tired. Well,
sacrament was good, for Sunday school we talked about the sacrament
and what it means to us. Priesthood was about the peace of the gospel,
through a knowledge of Jesus Christ. After church we tried to contact
some people before dinner. After dinner we met briefly with the Bishop
and got some names to visit and to get to know him. With those names
we set up two appointments for this week.

Well, this week was kind of crazy with the last minute transfer
change. I'm pumped because one of my companions, Elder Conley, is now
in my zone so we will see him on p-days!! I hope everyone is doing
well! I love you all and hope you have a blessed week!

With love,
Elder Hinrichsen
